After exceptional reviews from the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film festival, four Golden Arena awards at Pula Film Festival and a Golden Mimosa for best directing at Montenegro Film Festival, Ivona Juka's „You Carry Me“ has been awarded with a Grand Prix for the best debutant movie at 6th Avvantura Film Festival in Zadar.
„I'm very happy about the award because it recognizes not only me as a director, but also everyone who worked with me on creating this movie and everyone who believed in the movie's success from day one. I'm pleased the jury has recognized my work, but I'm even happier to see the reactions of the audience after the screenings and their spontaneous and prolonged applauses. As I said earlier, Avvantura Film Festival is growing year by year, and it's screening excellent movies which makes this festival one of the top festivals in our region. Avvantura Film Festival will surely become a highly respectable festival that no one will want to miss. The screening locations are perfect and the city of Zadar as a host has recognized the value od the film, and its importance for the Croatian cultural screne“, said Ivona Juka.
For the fifth year in a row Zadar has hosted the Avvantura film festival from 23 to 29 August. More than a hundred most recent films were screened on different locations which coincide with Zadar’s attractions. The visitors were able to enjoy watching films in an open-air cinema in historic places such as the Forum, Five Wells Square (Trg pet bunara), Saint Dominic’s and Puppet Theatre (Kazalište lutaka).
